PS Vita homebrew updates and exciting news

Developer Wololo has made some significant progress on his work with the Vita HBL. According to his blog, je has “stabilized HBL for Teck4’s exploit and got some major homebrews to work”. He’s posted a video of some of these homebrew apps running on the Vita, which you can see below. Among the homebrews is snes9xTYL (SNES emulator), Bookr (PDF reader), CSPSP, T.O.M.E. (text RPG), EmuMaster (GameBoy emulator), Zombie Crisis (FPS), Wagic, Cavestory (platformer), Picodrive (Sega Genesis emulator), Spider Solitair, ScummVM, Daedalus (N64 emulator), and FCEU-PSP (NES emulator).

Missing from the above video is gpsp, the excellent GameBoy Advance emulator which is unfortunately not working at this time. According to Wololo, the Vita is “more sensitive than the PSP when a thread that’s currently running crashes”. Furthermore, syscall estimation basically does not work.

Overall, this is great news, as much of the PSP homebrew seems to be working relatively stable on the Vita. Great work, Wololo!
